“Under my watchful eye the world will burn…with laughter” Matt went to college, in four years of isolation he was slowly driven mad.  He eventually escaped, having become a twisted version of his former self. Instead of returning to his people and the Zenith City, he sought tutelage from dark wizards across the land. With his demented will focused on one task, he quickly became a dangerous and powerful warlock in his own right. Now he seeks to end all conflict in Comedy by bringing all of the audience members to their knees, regardless of their affiliation. Renegade Improv is the perfect tool to help him meet his ends – for now.

stephanie for blogStephanie “Franken” Stine

Stephanie studied in Hollywood where she siscovered the secret of life and created the intelligent but grotesque monster, Kristen Stewart, from whom she recoils in horror. Stephanie tried to keep her creation of the monster a secret, feeling increasingly guilty and ashamed that the monster can not show emotion or connect with other human beings. Shamed out of Hollywood; Stephanie came to the only place that would take her … Renegade improv.

Kyle “It’s My Birthday Today, Aren’t I Fancy” Johannessen
Kyle Johannessen has played enough video games in his day to feel entirely confident in his ability to not only survive, but to repel a zombie invasion. Through the wonderful and imaginary worlds he has traveled, he has the sharp mind of a jedi knight, the acrobatic skills of an assassin, the weapons “know-how” that any Call of Duty Game instills, and the fabled will of a hero. Unfortunately, he fails to realize that these are all delusions. In his world he is supreme ruler, but denies this power in his hatred of the man.

Mary grew up on a small plot of land in rural Kentucky in 1867. Or maybe she didn’t. She was the only child begotten by a Bigfoot couple cleverly disguised as farmers. Or maybe she wasn’t. She was part of the last shuttle launch program by The Democratic Republic of Congo, that ended in tears and comfort eating. Eh? In an alternate universe, Mary currently works in Theatre and for The Moroccan-American ACCC. She holds a BFA in Theatre Performance,  a BA in International Studies, and an MPhil in Theatrical Theory and Criticism. Her favorite ice cream is Ben and Jerry’s Phish food, and she enjoys spending time with her Mastador, Balou.

when they fall asleep they have intense dreams where their deepest desires and fantasies come to life and wrap around them sensuously like a warm, moist blanket until they digress into thumb sucking fetuses. But when they awake they find Robert with his arm around them and a knowing nod is all that is needed to complete the bond.

Reasons To See “Reasons”

Tonight we open the next production of our 2011 season, REASONS TO BE PRETTY. The show starts at 8pm and the fun continues till around midnight. And just in case you weren’t already planning on coming, here’s the top 10 reasons to see “Reasons.”

  1. Lift up your couch cushion. Grab the random change under there. Okay, that’s how much your ticket costs for tonight’s performance.
  2. This place is providing free food after the show. And we’ve been told there will be mac ‘n’ cheese on the menu.
  3. Nick Violante sports some pretty funny shirts in this show. And he plays a douche a little too well.
  4. After the production, Mae Martin will perform some of her lovely music for you in the Zeitgeist atrium.
  5. Sarah Diener rips Andy Bennett’s ego apart in this play. And come on, you know you want to see that turd get knocked down a peg or two.
  6. Your ticket to the show also gets you free admission to the 10:30 Improv set by the newly formed “Long Story Short” team of Renegade Improv.
  7. Teran Ferguson plays a figure of authority. Stop laughing. We’re serious.
  8. It’s the area premiere of this 2009 Tony nominated play.
  9. Set designer Evan Kelly has hidden the backwards Renegade “R” somewhere on stage. First person to find it and post the location on our facebook page wins a pair of free tickets to THE WILD PARTY.
  10. Because your 3 Day Weekend starts tonight.

Reasons to be Pretty – Pay What You Can!

We’re a mere two nights (TWO NIGHTS!) away from opening the next show in our 2011 season, the brilliant Neil LaBute play, REASONS TO BE PRETTY.

Don’t forget that opening night, this Thursday, June 2nd is PAY WHAT YOU CAN. You decide how much you can afford – be it $1 or $100. For that amount that you’ve offered you get a ticket to the opening of REASONS TO BE PRETTY at 8pm, free food after the show from the Zeitgeist Cafe as well as free live music from Mae Martin in the Zeitgeist lobby, PLUS a free long-form improv set from LONG STORY SHORT, the newly formed long form Renegade Improv team at 10:30 pm. That’s a hell of a good deal. So come party with us!

Today we’re going to post a couple videos on our blog that have something to say or do with the show that opens on Thursday. We present them without comment, we just want you to watch them. And then come hang out with us on Thursday, June 2nd at 8pm.
