All We Want For Christmas…

Renegade Theater Company is on vacation (except, of course for Renegade Improv) until the New Year. But before we sign off for 2011, we wanted to take a moment to thank the artists and audiences who have made 2011 our most successful season yet.

But we also wanted to take a moment to ask for your support. In order to continue to provide the bold, cutting-edge theater we’ve come to be known for, we need donations from people like you. All donations are tax deductible, and all donations earn our undying love and appreciation.

Donating to Renegade is easy. Just CLICK HERE and choose whether you’d like to donate through the mail, facebook, Network for Good or PayPal. And the best part is this…

EVERY DOLLAR WE RECEIVE BETWEEN NOW AND THE END OF THE YEAR WILL BE MATCHED BY THE A.H. ZEPPA FAMILY FOUNDATION!

So if you can, please take a moment and donate to Renegade Theater Company and help us create theater in this community for many years to come.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Renegade!

A Steady Rain

By Keith Huff

Directed by Nick Violante

Joey and Denny have been best friends since kindergarten, and after working together for several years as policemen in Chicago, they are practically family: Joey helps out with Denny’s wife and kids; Denny keeps Joey away from the bottle. But when a domestic disturbance call takes a turn for the worse, their friendship is put on the line. The result is a harrowing journey into a moral gray area where trust and loyalty struggle for survival against a sobering backdrop of pimps, prostitutes, and criminal lowlifes.

A powerful show featuring a mere cast of two, A Steady Rain is filled with sharp storytelling and biting repartee, exploring the complexities of a lifelong bond tainted by domestic affairs, violence and the rough streets of Chicago.  The 2009 Broadway production starring Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman was voted one of the top 10 plays of the year by Time Magazine and dubbed a “a gritty, rich, thick, poetic and entirely gripping tale,” by the Chicago Tribune.  Now, this modern noir thriller comes to Renegade.

April 12-14 & 19-21

All shows at 8 p.m.

We’re going to be pretty busy the next few days in tech for DINK TANK: RETURN OF THE DINKS, which opens next week! So, we thought we’d give you an extra-special advent gift to get you over the next few days. It’s one of the things we are most proud of, as a sketch troupe. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a few minutes and enjoy a shirtless Jody Kujawa, a bongo drum circle, and some dressing-down of “Wolverine” fans.

We’ll be back on Monday with some more sneak peeks at the show, and we’ll see you at the theater on December 8th at 8pm!
