Today we turn over our blog to one half of the pair that’s about to break Renegade’s collective hearts. Next week, Jake Neuman and Erin Muhs leave us and head to Los Angeles. While we have no doubt their talents and ambition will take them far out there, we can’t help but feel really, really bummed they’re leaving us. And then, to make matters worse, Jake wrote the following for the blog:
This is going to come off sappy. So as a punishment, I am going to submerge my hands in a tub of bleach until the sappy has bled itself from my fingers … Ok, creepy.
Anyhow. This is my first blog ever, ever. But it turns out that after Reefer Madness is over, I am going to be moving to California, so it’s probably time that I utilize the Renegade website and say a few words (since they don’t believe in computers in Cali).
It has been an absolutely amazing experience being involved at the Renegade. I have met a great group of HILARIOUS people who have taught me so much.
Seriously… I still owe $36,000 dollars for a college theatre education, and I didn’t learn nearly as much from it as I did from the Renegade.
It is the hardest thing I have ever done leaving such a welcoming community of people. (P.S. You bastards are making me sentimental. This is your fault.)
While the happy thoughts of the Renegade theater won’t provide the same warmth as a Sunday newspaper when my emaciated body is huddled and struggling to provide makeshift shelter on the unforgiving streets of LA, I will recall them, and use the last ounces of strength I have to accomplish a final smile as my weathered homeless body collapses into a defeated breathless heap in front of a soup kitchen.
That, or I will totally be famous, and I’ll mention the Renegade in my Oscar speech.
I hope to come back often, and play with the Improv team. That would be wicked sweet! Thanks again for everything,
Jake
